The new Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 unveiled this April has been armed with some new capabilities focused on the imperative needs of today’s businesses to Engage with customers on their terms, Run agile operations that exceed customer needs and Expand business to better serve their customers. AX 2012 R3 will be available on the cloud via Azure and its the first time any version of AX will be delivered on the cloud. It’s a major step ahead by the Microsoft Dynamics Family.

Warehouse Management (WAX)
A new module for advanced warehouse management that integrates advanced supply chain capabilities into Microsoft Dynamics AX. It will provide a complete real-time, global view of a business by extending significant functionalities around the abilities of Dynamics AX and allows accomplishing warehousing tasks more easily and efficiently. From 360° degree inventory visibility to defining custom workflow and optimizing labor, this module will completely eradicate the need for any extra Warehouse Management System.
Transportation Management (TRAX)
TRAX is an enterprise transportation solution that allows centralized freight planning across business, or even separate planning at the site/warehouse level. It will help providing customers with fulfillment choices while keeping logistics and transportation costs low. Advanced load planning, rate and route calculations as well as rate shopping across carriers are some of the new features.
This module will allow managing discounts that are offered by vendors to distributors, wholesalers, and retail customers as part of promotional incentives. Trade allowances will help stimulate sales through price management. The Trade allowance management module provides the tools that are necessary to maintain relationships with vendors and customers throughout the promotional process. This module can be used to create, maintain, and quickly determine status of trade allowances.
For satisfying the ever changing customer needs –
Demand Forecasting: The new Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 has a powerful demand forecasting tool that will help businesses to forecast demand on historical data adjust the forecasted demand, and import the values into Microsoft Dynamics AX forecast models. The forecast will be provided in Excel and can be easily manipulated by the planner. Users running Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 on SQL Server Standard Edition will not have to upgrade SQL Server in order to use demand forecasting. The User interface to determine the historical data range and parameters of the algorithm are very simply designed. Also the capability to perform forecast at any order penetration point in the supply chain has been introduced.
Improvement in e-procurement:
E-procurement features have been improved in this new edition to support complex planning needs and removal of operational inefficiencies.
Some of the enhancements are Improved Request of Information (RFI’s), Request for Proposal (RFPs) and Request for Quote (RFQ) from solicitation.
Retail industry specific enhancements:
The retail component has undergone some new enhancements for addressing the most pressing needs of today’s retailers. 2012 R3 edition has been tailor made for Omni-channel retailing needs. It will empower retailers to offer their customers Omni-channel shopping experience across online channels as well as social platforms. A completely new Windows 8/8.1 Tablet (POS) and Mobile POS for Windows Phone 8 has been introduced. A host of other features like customer-specific pricing, wish lists, gift cards, loyalty programs across legal-entities, tiering of customers and loyalty programs across legal-entities has been introduced. Even Campaigning through social networks like Facebook and Twitter can now be done out of the box.
Extended Mainstream support:
Microsoft has decided to extend the mainstream support for customers upgrading to, or purchasing, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3. This extra support timeline will provide customers to choose to upgrade to the next major release as per their ideal time. Mainstream support expiration date has been extended 2 years, to October 11, 2018.
