Business Infrastructure Enhancements in SAP Business One 9.0 are mostly to facilitate SAP B1 implementation project activities. Some new interfaces have been incorporated into SAP B1 to plan and manage the implementation project as per the chosen methodology, e.g. Accelerated Implementation Program (AIP) 2.0 or any of the variations of it. The most primary focus of these improvements are to make all the areas / parts, required at the time of implementation and initializing a new company, of SAP B1 centralized.
Previously SAP B1 implementation consultants had to manage a number of tools and documents outside SAP B1 for the implementation projects. But now most those tools and documentations are going to be available within SAP Business One 9.0 itself. An implementation can easily be planned and managed within SAP B1 and the project tasks can be linked to the concerned users (team members) of the specific SAP B1 company. Project tasks can also be linked to the concerned parts of SAP B1 where the actual tasks need to be carried out. So the project tasks are now going to be closer to SAP B1, more realistic, and more applicative.
Multiple project templates make the “Implementation Project” feature of SAP Business One 9.0 widely usable. Not only the basic set of tasks of AIP, but also any other type task-sets (project templates) can be used. Three types of project templates are shipped with the package, and if required we can easily create our own template according to implementation requirements.
A new tool has been introduced, it replaces the previous “Copy Express” add-on, to copy data from one SAP B1 company to another. The tool name is “Quick Copy” and it has some improvements over the previous tool for better control over the copy process. One of the major improvements in this tool is automatic real time data dependency check and facility to select the depended data on the fly. Now configuring multiple SAP B1 company databases within a single implementation project is going to be easier than earlier.
Express Configuration Wizard – A great wizard to configure SAP B1 step by step, was introduced in SAP B1 8.8 family and now it is continued in SAP Business One 9.0 as well. It has also been incorporated in the mentioned centralized interface – “Implementation Tasks” of SAP B1’s implementation centre.
The well-known “Solution Packager” and DTW are also available under the centralized infrastructure of SAP B1 for its implementation.
