SAP Business One 9.0, as we know is the first major release of Release Family 9. SAP Business One Workflow is a new platform in SAP Business One 9.0. Workflow in SAP Business One 9.0 enabling users to define, customize and execute workflows for key business processes, providing greater process flow transparency, standardization and control across Business One. In this Blog, we will discuss in detail the techno functional aspects of SAP Business One 9.0 Workflow.
Workflow in SAP B1 9.0 is to support customization of business process. Now, the required document flow can be visually designed in SAP B1. End users can be guided through the Work-lists (as per workflows) to perform various tasks in SAP B1 according to various business process criteria.

In SAP B1 8.8 family also you can find some document flow visualization (Relationship map), similar to Workflow feature, but that is reactive in nature. On the other hand Workflow is proactive in nature.

How to work with it?
Workflow can to be designed in SAP Business One Studio then export it into SAP B1 to implement the same. Designing tools are available in the Studio to create the workflow with real-time connectivity to the target SAP B1 company. Before starting any work on workflow ensure that the Workflow service is running through SAP B1 Service Manager and it is properly setup.

What value it can add in implementation of SAP B1?
Now at time of implementation beside preparing the Business Blue Print (BBP), the workflow diagrams can be designed though the SAP B1 Studio instead of using external tool like MS Word, Visio, etc. This will definitely add value to the BBP phase or mapping of the BBP will be more realistic in later stages of implementation.
